One thing moved, collected or taken away. The specialist pieces sit above the rest because they need more people and more kit, not because they travel further.

Rubbish removal and clearance prices
Waste work is priced by how much of the van you fill and what it costs to dispose of, rather than by the number of rooms.

What every price includes
- The van, the fuel and the driver
- A driver who carries, loads and stacks rather than watching you do it
- Blankets, straps and trolley to protect what is being moved
- Loading and unloading at both ends, including stairs
- The parking sorted before the day rather than argued about on it
What changes the price
- Floor and lift access. A third floor walk up in Cathays takes longer than a ground floor flat in Rhiwbina, and time is what the price is made of.
- Where the van can stop. A bay outside is one price, a hundred metre carry from the nearest legal loading point in the city centre is another.
- How much there actually is. Lofts, garages and sheds are where quotes go wrong, so count them in when you tell us.
- Whether it needs two people. Wardrobes, sofa beds, American fridge freezers and pianos usually do.
- Dismantling and reassembly, if flat pack furniture has to come apart to get out of the room.
- The date. Fridays, month ends and the September student weekends in Cathays are the busiest slots in Cardiff.
- Distance beyond the city. Anywhere along the M4 corridor stays a local job, further afield is priced as long distance.
Fixed price, not a meter
For a job with a known shape, which is nearly all of them, we quote one fixed figure for the whole thing. It is agreed before we pull away and it does not move because a wardrobe took an extra twenty minutes on a landing in Roath. You are not paying for our traffic or our tea break.
Where a job genuinely cannot be pinned down, clearing a garage nobody has measured or ferrying between two addresses over an afternoon, we will offer an hourly rate instead: £45 an hour for one person and a van, £65 for two, with a 2 hour minimum. We will tell you which way round is cheaper for your job rather than picking the one that suits us.
How this compares to a removals firm
A full removals company in Cardiff averages around £557 for a one to two bedroom move and about £893 for a three bed, according to comparemymove Cardiff removal cost data. The equivalent man and van job sits well below both.
The difference is what you are buying. A removals firm sends a surveyor, a four person crew and a packing service. For a flat or a small house most of that is capacity you will not use. Where a removals firm earns its money is on large houses, long distances and moves where somebody else packing every plate is genuinely worth paying for.
